ABOUT

The Project

Three parents and a healthcare expert discuss the unexpected effects of traumatic births in this intimate and emotional interview film.

The Brief

NHS Norfolk and Waveney were transforming their Talking Therapies service, with a focus on perinatal care for parents. They identified that many parents experiencing mental health challenges were unaware of the lasting impact a traumatic birth could have on their well-being. Our goal was to create a film that would resonate with these individuals, helping them better understand their own experiences and the support available to them.

Our Approach

Given the sensitivity of the subject matter, we knew from the outset that our team needed to be well-informed, educated, and empathetic. We worked directly with the NHS and key stakeholders to identify interviewees willing to share their personal experiences. Our director invested time in building trust and rapport with the parents beforehand. On the day of filming, we kept our crew minimal to ensure the parents felt as comfortable as possible while being interviewed by the director.

The Result

The film was featured in regional campaigns and social marketing efforts to engage fathers across the area. It received widespread praise from healthcare professionals and parents with lived experience, noted for its authenticity and emotional impact. The interviewed parents shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, with many describing the interview process as a therapeutic experience in itself.
