Numbers only tell part of the story, but when a project hits over 2.4 million impressions online, it is worth looking at the mechanics behind the metrics.
We recently partnered with the charity Gambling With Lives to deliver a comprehensive suite of campaign assets designed to shift the conversation around gambling harms. The core objective was clear: translate a deeply sensitive, high-stakes message into a visual format that commands attention across digital platforms without losing its emotional integrity.
The Creative Challenge
Every film production company faces the same hurdle when tackling purpose-driven content. The material must be compelling enough to disrupt a crowded digital feed, but simultaneously respectful of the lived experiences at the heart of the cause. Gambling With Lives needed a versatile asset package that could serve multiple distribution channels, from targeted social media pushes to broader digital advocacy campaigns. The challenge for Press Record Films lay in creating a cohesive multi-platform narrative that felt both authentic and uncompromised.
Strategy and Asset Architecture
During pre-production, we spent significant time unpacking the specific messaging requirements of the charity, ensuring our creative treatment matched their strategic short and long-term goals. We took the time to interview people with lived experience and understand their personal stories and the nuances of the topic. The solution was not a single standalone piece, but an interconnected ecosystem of stories. This consisted of:
- The Hero Film: A central narrative piece designed to ground the campaign, carry the primary weight of the messaging, and establish the emotional tone.
- The Social Iterations: Four distinct, shorter films engineered for specific platform behaviours. These shorter cuts focused on distinct aspects of the broader message, making them highly effective for targeted digital placement.
By planning this asset architecture ensured that the onset workflow was incredibly efficient. We captured everything required for both the macro and micro content simultaneously, ensuring a uniform, interlinked aesthetic quality across every single deliverable.
Production and Delivery
High production values should never feel superficial; they must work in service of the story and the emotional tone of the piece. From the initial conceptual frameworks through to the final sound design in post-production, our creative team maintained a sharp focus on narrative clarity and emotional impact. The resulting films didn’t just temporarily occupy space on a social feed; they provoked thought and invited engagement.
The campaign 2.4 million impressions, helping Gambling With Lives scale from a regional initiative to a national one. And, more importantly, the films have been directly accredited with saving lives.
