On the way back from the pub, Jamie was attacked by a gang with metal bars. His struggle with his mental health after the attack caused him to lose his job and his family, and left him on the streets. His life was saved by learning to box, which helped him deal with his PTSD.
In September 2018, we were asked by LADbible if we would interested in creating a film about mental health. They explained to us that they’d been in touch with Jamie cross, who was living with PTSD and whose story they wanted to tell. Jamie’s story had previously appeared on local news and broadcast channels. But we was instantly confronted by the fact that up to that point, nobody had done Jamie, nor his story, justice.
After some careful research and a phone call with Jamie, we developed a set of interview questions that we felt would allow him to tell his story in a confident and comfortable manner. The shoot itself was one of the most rewarding we have ever experienced. The outpouring of affection and praise for Jamie on social media following the films release makes me proud that I could do his story justice.
